The Blooms are Here!

Well summer is on in FULL force, and the garden is matching pace! All of the early moisture combine with the recent explosion of sun/hot days means LOTS of flowers are in bloom! We have so many great things to pick right now I can hardly believe it! We have a few early season varieties hanging on like our lupins and knautia. We also have our second set of daisies coming on now, in addition to lots of bells, coriopsis, salvia, and even a few snap dragons! Here are a few pictures of some of the recent creations both mine and our wonderful customers' selections too! Hope to see you out soon, and don't forget to check our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/halfmoonblooms )for some special deals to pop up!

Waking up from Hibernation!

Not only is the garden starting to wake up from a long winter hibernation for the summer season but I am too! I am getting so eager for summer and visitors coming to pick flowers. For those that don’t know me personally, you may not know that we welcomed a wonderful little bundle, Jayney Joy to our life this winter. Her birth February 7th may explain why you have not seen many postings to our blog or Facebook for Half Moon Blooms.

Although we are not fully set up just yet, we have had some friends of the garden come out for an early season preview and to take some spring perennial blooms home with them! Right now we have lupines, daisies and bachelors buttons blooming. After the grey skies and brown mud in late winter, I am always thrilled at the brightness of a simple white daisy or brilliant purple lupine!

The only thing that makes me happier in the garden than the flowers themselves is when I see others getting excited about the flowers and making plans to come out and pick! We have already been able to send flowers with one friend for a graduation party; have had requests to host a ladies group for an afternoon outing and have been asked to do for flowers for several weddings this summer too! All of these things are going to be so much fun!

Here are a few pictures to get you energized for summer flowers! Don’t forget to check back for updates and featured deals both on our blog and Facebook.  I hope all of you reading this are doing great and staying out of the rain we have had this spring. I am looking forward to seeing you in the garden soon!

Looking at this color it is hard to believe they just get bigger and brighter!

My craft house is all decked out for summer too. I have a good feeling that Miss JJ and I will be spending a lot of time here!

This is how we work in the garden now ;)

A New Season is Starting

It may be cold and dreary outside but a new season for our garden has already begun. It is clearly still winter out, though a warm one thus far, so it may surprise you to know we are well underway with our plans for 2012. For the last few weeks we have been ogling over seed catalogs, researching estimated bloom times, planning our planting map, ordering our selections of seeds which needed restocking, and picking a few new items to add to our repertoire for this coming year. So exciting!
The end of June (when we hope the garden will be in full swing) does seem like a ways off yet. However, I am sure it will be here in the blink of an eye. We are expecting big things from our little garden this year and are excited about of our plans especially in the area of promotions. Although you won’t be visiting the garden for a while we hope you will continue to check back here on our blog for some fun “preseason deals” which you can print out and save for when you visit the garden this summer!

We hope you are looking forward to sunny skies, green grass and picking lots of blooms with us in the garden this coming summer!
